JB Webb-Benjamin is a British technologist, cryptographer and founder who has spent two decades at the intersection of design, security and emerging media. He began as an award-winning animator, taking a BA (Hons) Animation, 1:1 with Honours at Ravensbourne, before designing and deploying some of the UK's largest commercial websites and curating multi-million-pound software projects.
Today he leads two companies: Kryotech, an encrypted-application studio, and Djinn Technologies, a volumetrics platform. He is the creator of Vox Messenger, the world's first post-quantum encrypted messenger, and a vocal advocate for the right to privacy in the age of mass surveillance.
A former Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Ravensbourne and an active member of the British Computer Society, he explains lattice cryptography to policy panels and ships it to 80,000 users.
"We believe wholeheartedly in the empowerment of the individual through knowledge. Truth and honesty above all else, and privacy that comes as standard, not as a feature."
Graduated top of class, then straight into broadcast animation on Gaspard & Lisa at Chorion.
Designed and deployed some of the UK's largest commercial e-commerce sites; curated multi-million-pound software projects end to end.
Lent technical and cybersecurity acumen to enterprise clients across multiple sectors.
Began as a test of his own coding ability, then grew into a mission to give everyone a genuinely private messenger.
Encrypted application studio, security by design. Vox Messenger ships as the first and only post-quantum, end-to-end encrypted messenger, free and ad-free.
Inventor on a depth codec for 3D video recording and streaming, the foundation of the volumetric work to come.
Returned to teach the next generation; co-authored research with PlayLa.bZ on multi-dimensional motion arts (GenieMo).
Volumetrics-as-a-Service: point-cloud capture, holoportation and neural 3D for true spatial presence.
A regulated crypto wallet with bulk and group transactions settled for a single gas fee.
Brought the volumetric-video pioneer EF EVE in-house, deepening Djinn's real-time capture stack.
Astronomical-Temporal-Location cryptographic system, a decentralised E2E algorithm with time-travel-resistant verification.
Sold the prototype political-intelligence and analytics platform Salieri to Datavault AI Inc., his first venture exit.
